Record funds raised by staff for Vanuatu
Staff united in pre-COVID fun events and creative fundraising activity to raise a record amount of $58,827 through our annual corporate fundraiser in Australia and New Zealand.
Sanitarium, LHF and Vitality Works banded together for this worthy cause and staff responded generously to Lisanda Harris, Kylie Newell, Troy McDonald and James Chuang, Charlotte Moor, Lesley Hutchings, Marie Quayle, Iris Samsom, Keira Bullock, Helen Ryan
Sanitarium donated $30,000 to fund the activities, including a car wash, lunch fundraisers and even a car boot sale. The $8,827 raised above our target is funding a honey production pilot, providing increased employment and development.
Livlihood empowerment in Vanuatu
A team of 13 value award recipients from Sanitarium and it's sister companies, Life Health Foods and Vitality Works in Australia, New Zealand and China travelled to Vanuatu as part of the 2019 award program.
The team worked on ADRA’s Livelihood Empowerment and Family Food Security (LEAFFS) Project, which focuses on reducing poverty by improving livelihoods and
food security through sustainable farming.
Sanitarium donated $30,000 to fund the project, which supports 13 communities in the Malekula, Santo and Ambae Islands of Vanuatu.
ADRA’s work in Tangoa Island Village is helping to address root causes of poor family nutrition and lifestyle diseases. Our enthusiastic team worked in a variety of project areas, building a greenhouse, veggie gardens and a large fence around the village
garden demonstration area, physically challenging work in the hot and humid conditions.
The team also interacted with the community and played sport with the kids. For Susan McCarthy, Sanitarium recipient for SDI & SED, being welcomed into the Tangoa community gave her a new perspective.
"The insight I gained from stepping into the Island community life was a precious gift that not only brought immediate joy, but I know will have long lasting impact on my life.”
