Marmite Scrolls

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups flour
  • ½ cup wholemeal flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup margarine
  • 150ml Sanitarium So Good soymilk
  • 2 teaspoon Sanitarium Marmite
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • ½ cup grated cheese
  • Basil leaves (optional)

Method

  1. Sift flours, baking powder and all together. Using your fingertips rub the margarine into the flour until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  2. Make a well in the centre of the four mix and add the soymilk. Blend together then gently knead to form a dough.
  3. Using a rolling pin roll the dough into a 20 x 30 cm rectangle. Spread the dough with Marmite, then sprinkle with onion, tomato and cheese then add basil leaves.
  4. Roll the dough from the long side into a roll. Slice the roll into 10 even slices and place each piece cut side up onto a lightly-greased baking tray.
  5. Bake in a hot oven, 200°C, for 20 minutes or until scrolls have risen and cooked through.
